Last weekend the village of Sant Lluis celebrated their ´Fiesta Patronales´.
This year there were more than 60 horses taking part and one of those was Jeffrey Quirk, founding member of ´Equelia´. He was invited to take part in the festivities as a guest by Sr. Carretero, the Mayor of Sant Lluis.
The festival began with the ringing of the church bells and a parade of giant dolls each symbolising a different member of the community, a peasant farmer and his wife, a policeman, baby etc.
After the procession the Mayor leads the riders through the streets to greet the crowds, this is then followed by a church service and after the famous ´Jaleo´ This is where the horses ride around the streets and raise up on their hind legs to music by the Band of Es Migjorn Gran and the people touch the horses hearts as a sign of good luck.
